Hi Mr. Gonzalez,
I received the SpiderBrace and quickly put my camcorder on it to get
a feel for how it feels and works. I like it.
Hi Marcos...Just received the Spiderbrace II and I just had to tell you that it is AWESOME! very comfortable and lightweight and steadies me greatly...I wish I could have the LCD on my Canon XH-A1 just a couple of more inches forward but that is not your fault, it is my 56 year old eyes that can't focus close anymore....hahahahaha. Guess I will have to get the bi-focals out again..Once again..Thanks for making a great product.

Hi, Marcos,
Just finished doing some test footage going straight hand-held, and then the same footage with the Spiderbrace. Amazing difference! Just out of the box, with no practicing, I bolted my Panny 100 to the brace and started shooting. You can definitely feel the difference, more control and stability, less jitter. You get into that half crouch walk, poor man's tracking shot, and it works. With more time using it, I'll discover more nuances and tricks, but, this is the way to go for versatility and mobility.
Thanks for the nice work!
Hello, just wanted to say that I received my Spider Brace this morning, and immediately I have taken to it. I can vision alot more creativity now it will give me a great freedom to move and shoot more dynamic footage with my VX2100.
Brilliant 5 stars, thank you for building such a good product.

Got the Spiderbrace yesterday and took it out on its first shoot.
Wow! Even with a huge and heavy Wide Angle Adapter, it was more than I could have hoped for.
I can use my remote zoom control directly on the right hand portion, and never need to leave the brace.
This has been a fantastic addition to my video kit, and can not be touched for the price. It arrived quickly, and is going to make a huge difference in what I am able to shoot.
Thanks for a great product, great service, and innovation.

Hello Marcos,
I picked up the Spiderbrace today from the post office following the delivery mix-up due to an old address on our PayPal account. (The delivery to the old address was very prompt!)
I bought it as a gift for my husband who makes videos for some local bands here in Louisville and he absolutely loves it. He just opened the box and is walking around w/the camera on it in amazement.
Thank you!

Hi Marcos,
Just wanted to say that I received my SB very quickly, and I've been really happy with it. In fact, a couple buddies have already borrowed for their projects, and I would expect you to have a couple more orders before too long! For the money, it's probably the best investment I've made toward my rig yet.
Thanks for putting together such a helpful tool.

We were shocked to receive the Spiderbrace today. What a great surprise - the post office comes through!

You guys are great. I have showed off my mini-rig to lots of shooters
and they are all amazed at how steady the shots can be. Last week I
was shooting for CNN Heros series and they requested all hand-held
shots. I was using the mini-rig and the producer said my shots looked
like I was using sticks and was too steady!

Hello Marcos,
I just received the spiderbrace and it works with my HVX200 like a dream. I was a bit worried that
it might swivel on the screw, but its rock solid. I attached a varizoom controller and i was in business.
I'm going to see if i can attach a battery holder to the back for counter weight. This is a great invention,
and I'm sure i'm going to order another soon.
Thanks

Just wanted
to let you all know that I love my SpiderBrace Mini-Rig. I guess
I should have written a long time ago but I've been too busy
shooting video to send an Email. Its light, sturdy and affordable.
I like the fact that I can hang my rig on my shoulder when I'm
not shooting. I don't have to worry about setting my camera down
somewhere when I need to free my hands to do something else.
Just wanted to let you all know that you all have a great product
and people ask me about it all the time.

To Whom It May Concern,
I am a independent
filmmaker from LA and just finished completing a new short film
I wrote/directed and shot. Knowing that the subject matter of
the film was dark, I had made a creative decision to shoot the
whole film handheld. That's when I came across your Spiderbrace, so
I thought for $69 bucks, why not try it.
I have already
now completed all shooting and am currently editing looking to
enter the short as a premiere at either Sundance or Slamdance
in 2007. And I have to tell you, the best piece of equipment,
the most versatile on set tool, the best purchase I made for this
film was the Spiderbrace.
It is a wonder
of technology, completely lightweight, and has a steadyness that
I used to only see in a steadycam. I shot the whole film using
that Spiderbrace and I have to say that I'm a true fan and disciple.
I will never, repeat never handhold the camera again, the Spider
and me have become that close!
I will be going
to many film festivals in the coming year and beginning of next,
and rest assured, I will be singing the praises of the Spiderbrace
at every Venue, Q and A session, and party I go to. I don't need
to be paid for the kind words, you've already given me something
better then money can buy. My film is really great looking and
the Spiderbrace is a major part of that. Thanks you guys!
Sincerely,
Jason Coleman

Dear Marcos,
I just want to let you know how impressed I am to received my SpiderBrace2
today as promised (shipped overnight for just $15 extra). I was
kind of worried at first since I had no way of calling you before
buying it but I must say that this is one of the most pleasant
transaction I have ever done on the internet.
And most importantly, I am very pleased with your product. For
what it cost, you cant beat the price for its quality, workmanship,
its extremely light weight, and ergonomic design! It works perfectly
well and when my Sony Z1U is fitted with a wide angle lens, it
enables me to shoot while walking forward without the use of any
glidecam or stabilizing equipment. The only thing i need to do
is slightly liftup the back support away from my shoulder and balance
it with my two forehands while walking forward and the results
is an amazingly stable shake-free dolly-like shots.
As an added bonus, I will utilize the small bottom enclusure of
the SpiderBrace2 to encase a small circuit and a switch, in order
to enable me to switch between two wireless mic receivers using
only one (1) audio channel on my video camera with just a simple
flip of a switch. This allows me to interview people using a hand-held
mic (without manually switching wires and receivers) and then be
able to immediately switch back to record the output of another
wireless mic (situated in front of a speaker or attached to the
output of a DJ mixer) almost instantly.
As you can tell, I am very pleased with your product.
Keep up the good work! I will show off this new gadget on our next
months meeting.

Marcos,
Thanks for the prompt service. I’ve been monkeying around
with your little device and it’s very handy. It will come
in very nicely as a compliment to the Steadicam Merlin I’m
going to start flying. I’m starting a production business
and you have the “honor” of being the first equipment
supplier to deliver. J I’m also creating a blog detailing
the whole process along with just video editing creation in general
and next week I’m going to be posting the first in the series
and I’ll be giving you a glowing review based on my initial
30 minutes with your device. Plus, look for some nice YouTube videos
I’ll be posting to show off what it can do.
Thanks again and know that I’ll recommend your Spiderbrace
to everyone I meet (unless they’re my competition – kidding).
Seriously, I’ll be shouting the virtues of this to everyone
who will listen.
Cheers

Hi Marcos,
I've got my Spiderbrace, and I have to say that I didn't expect
such a simple piece of equipment would be so effective. I'm using
it with a Z1 with heavy rods support/matte box/35mm. adapter
rig. It really frees your arms from much of the rig's weight,
and it's so well balanced that it lets you shoot really comfortably,
and precisely.
Thanks for your brilliant Idea.

I ordered my
Spiderbrace on Wednesday & it arrived on Friday!
The first thing I noticed was the weight...I thought the mailman
was giving me an empty box! It weighs next to nothing but feels
plenty rigid. I have already tested it with one of my FX1's and
it makes steady shots so much easier. With this product on the
market, how are the more expensive units selling?? I would, and
will, recommend this product. Thanks for a great value.

Thank you for the quick shipment.
A friend referred me to you about your product.
While I generally shoot with the larger, shoulder mounted cameras,
I own a VX2000 as a backup. I rarely use it because of the problem
of keeping it stable during shooting.
I like your product because it allows a full range of motion. It
does not require strapping or attaching the device to you. The
Spiderbrace also allows you to place it down without the camera
having to lay on its side. Quick to set down and quick to pick
up and shoot. As a bonus, it acts as a ground level tripod.
Great product! Great price!

Hi Marcos,
I just got
my spiderbrace today. Quiet fast ey? Like everyone else, I tried
it right away. It works great for my set-up (Sony HVR A1U). I
put my varizoom rocker on and it has no problem like some had
said on the internet. I also like to add that the angle of the
right handle is just perfect. It allows me to tug my elbow to
my body excactly the way us photogs do with large beta camcorder.
Another plus is the two screws. I'm getting old and have a long
eye-sight so I need my LCD to be somewhat far away from my eyes.
By having the two positionss to switch makes using both viewfinder
and LCD possilbe for me. One more note on the international shipping.
Since, the brace is making of PVC, they didn't chrage me any tax
or whatsover!
Thanks again for such a wonderful product.

Marcos,
Yes to confirm. I did order another Spiderbrace 2.
I loved the first one so much already, I had to order another. Thanks
for making such an excellent & practical tool for videographers
at a great price. I have purchased 3 or 4 other

and do not perform near as well. You have

Marcos,
I received
my SpiderBrace yesterday. What a wonderful device! One of those
things you look at and go, "I could have built
that!" However, I didn't, you did! A marvelous innovation!
It works great with my GL2. I'm also working out a counterbalance
to make it easier to use with my Redrock Microsystems M2. I showed
to my colleagues where I work and where I teach; both are looking
to purchase at least one.
Just wanted you to know how I felt about this brace. Enjoy your
success!

One word: SpiderBrace.
That was the solution to all my problems. It is $60 and it is
light and small. It keeps your footage as smooth as possible while
still providing the ability to move it around with ease. It was
a huge success at the PMAs this year.

Marcos-
I'm a wedding and event videographer who has multiple herniated
disks in my lower back. Using the Spiderbrace on camera two (camera
one is on a tripod) has allowed me to capture great angles
with less pain during even the longer ceremonies. It's
ergonomics and light weight (not to mention low price!) are just
what the doctor ordered. I use mine with a Varizoom controller
mounted just above the first angle on the right arm and it's
a perfect fit. Thanks for making a fine product at a price that's
unusually low in this business.

Hi Marcos,
I have received
my Spiderbrace 2. I tested it out with my Canon GL2 camcorder,
and am I EXTREMELY impressed with it. My test involved
me zooming in on a subject (a moving dolly-style soom, not a
lens or servo zoom), walking through a hallway, walking around
and panning the camera at the same time, tilting the camera,
and moving up and down with it. I
even bumped into some boxes as I was walking with it, and there was absolutely
no camera shake whateoever at any time. The results are what I would
escape from a $1000.00+ Tiffen Steadicam, all for just about $75.00! You
guys have made an excellent product, and I look forward to using it on my next
trip New Zealand in a couple of weeks time. Please feel free to
use this email for a testimonial Also, I am taking a field production
video class at my university next semester, and I will mentioning the spiderbrace
to all of my peers in that class.

I ordered one
on a LATE wednesday night (it was after midnight, so technically
it was thursday morning) and I received it saturday morning from
my postman. I was shocked at how quickly it arrived...in fact,
a week earlier than I really NEEDED it, so I got an extra weekend
to play wih it and get used to shooting with it.
I'm thrilled
with the purchase, and am getting GREAT results with it!

I think Emerico
gets an "attaboy" for recommending the Spidercam. I
couldn't resist the price ($75.00 with shipping), and was quite
pleased with the unit. As WH mentioned, it is ridiculously light
in weight, but plenty rugged for what it will be used for. I
don't think there will be any problems with the camera unexpectedly
swiveling on the mount. I even attached a quick release to it
and it worked just fine.
You can use
it with either the lcd screen or the viewfinder, which lines
up nicely with your right eye, unlike some other units I have
demoed. This device does not offer the ab support you find in
those units costing considerably more money, and therefore, long
lens shots should be avoided, as WH hints at. That's not to say
you can't zoom full tight, tilt up in the air and photograph
a helicopter flying overhead, which I did with the Spiderbrace.
Panning with the helicopter helps hide the movement from using
a long lens. But you shouldn't plan on shooting a motionless
bride from thirty feet away fully zoomed in for any period of
time.
I attached
my Zoe DVL zoom controller to the Spiderbrace and got acceptable
results; better than fumbling with the camera zoom control, as
WH found out. I can probably do a bit of customizing to fit the
Zoe even better by shaving off a bit of the foam grip padding.
Still love my Zoe.
I don't think
the Spiderbrace will work very well with the Sony HDV cams lcd
screens, which are top mounted, and will be difficult to see.
I think you will be restricted to using the viewfinder. BTW,
there is also a Spiderbrace for the XL1-2 style cameras.
A final note.
I shot a day on a new sitcom series called "Sunny in Philly," which
is for the FX channel. They are shooting with two DVX100A cameras,
and the operators are using the DvRigPro shoulder braces. They
have removed the "suspension pods" (ab support) from
the rigs because they didn't like them. Know what you get when
you remove the suspension supports from a DvRig Pro? A Spiderbrace,
plus $500.00
Unfortunately,
my Spiderbrace had not yet arrived in time for me to test it
on "Sunny in Philly", so I used my custom built support
that is older than most of the readers of this forum, and the
other operators were VERY impressed. But the Spiderbrace will
be great for a light weight solution for run-and-run situations.
And if it gets lost or stolen, you're only out 75 bucks.
I hope these
guys sell a truckload of these Spiderbraces. The best new gag
for dv shooters I have seen in a long time.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The wedding went great except for
a heavy downpour of rain. We were all under a gazebo. Beyond that everything
went OK. The SB worked outstanding. I used the tripod for the ceremony
and the SB for the reception. It was alot easier to keep the camera steady
using the SB. There were some tight shots where I had to resort to going
handheld. All in all once the industry learns about SB It will be a
necessary item one should carry. I'm sure someone will add a control unit
for controling the camera. However I found it very comfortable holding one
of the braces with my left hand and operating the camera with my right hand.
That way I could hold it rock solid against my shoulder and the eye piece
against my eye. Interviews were a breeze. Thanks again for a great product
at a great price.
more:
The brace just arrived at 11:10AM CDT. I asked the postman what may have been
the problem but he didn't know. He said to call, he gave me the number,
and they might give me a refund or some sort of discount. He apologized.
I might just let it go. If it came the normal way it might not have arrived
until next week. The main thing is that I have it. I want to tell you that the
Brace is outstanding. When I first held the box I thought that nothing
was in it. I took the brace out and mounted my camcorder to it and was
amazed at the stability. I walked around my house and was again amazed
at how stable it was. No bouncing that I could detect or shaking. I'm anxious
to see how it does at the wedding reception. I'll still use the tripod
at the wedding ceremony. Anyway great product. Well worth the money. Correctly
priced. Glad to see someone that's not out to take advantage of people.
Thanks again.
Best

I know what
you mean, Duane. I ordered at Thursday noon and received my Spiderbrace package Saturday morning.
My Spiderbrace
2 works as advertised, which is all anyone can ask. Although
it's taking some getting used to, I'm already enjoying the benefits
of distributing the camera weight among my two arms and shoulder;
shooting is much less fatiguing. The Spiderbrace 2 is no magic
bullet by any means, but it's a useful tool, and I'm sure I'll
get even better results the more I use it. Walking with the Spiderbrace 2, I can get smoother dolly shots by countering the light
bounce with my forearms. Keeping your muscles and joints loose
seems to help, as shooting with a rigid posture just transfers
abrupt movements to your camera. One cool thing I've noticed
is that the PVC material flexes a very small amount under the
camera's weight, which along with the soft padding around the
Spiderbraces, seems to absorb some some of the bounce that results
from walking for breathing heavily.
I was pleasantly
surprised to learn that my Libec ZC-3DV zoom controller fits
the Spiderbrace 2 handles. Using the zoom controller on the
right-side handle, leaves my left hand avaiable to change my
DVC80's exposure settings. The whole rig is lightweight, affordable,
and practical. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I took the
Spiderbrace that you sent me to South Africa and it worked great.
I was able to get shots that otherwise would have been impossible.
What a neat idea you had. Thanks again.

Got the SpiderBrace today and ran it thru a few tests.
First off, it's VERY LIGHT! It's made of sturdy plastic tubing
connected to a center block where the camera is attached. My overloaded
PD-170 didn't stress the brace one bit. There are two L-bolts to
attach the camera in different positions but no stabilizing bolt
to prevent the camera from swiveling on the brace unexpectedly
(as you find on most tripod plates). I'll have to see if this becomes
a problem.
The brace is designed so the hands each hold one of the two cushioned
tubes that fork out of the center block. This provides excellent
stability but makes zooming difficult. Once you release one of
the two handles the camera can tilt slightly to one side since
it's another cushioned tube that is sitting on your shoulder. This
essentially makes manual zooms or focus a shaky proposition (sorry).
I was able to maintain a good steady shot with zoom capability
with my right hand holding the camera the usual hand held way and
my left hand holding the left handle tube. Unfortunately the position
was a little uncomfortable for me and the weight distribution was
not as good. I'm going to test a friend's Vari-Zoom controller
to see if can be properly installed on the brace.
However, when operated as designed, the SpiderBrace worked really
well. The weight distribution was perfect for me. If you are doing
on the street interviews or something like it, this product will
help you get thru a long shoot. It's no Glidecam or Flow-Pod but
considering the price which is under $100 dollars, this is a very
good deal. - William Hohauser
Just
got the SpiderBrace. This is a really cool product. Light weight,
very comfortable, good price,
it works.
I showed it to my buddy next door who owns a professional production
company and he thought
it was a great product too.
